If you’ve already installed Tuesday’s Aperture 3.1.2 update and happen to own an Apple TV, your work today isn’t quite finished -- Apple has pushed out a 4.2.1 update for its second-generation media box to address an issue with screen flickering on older televisions and more.
Apple has pushed out yet another minor update for the second-generation Apple TV on Tuesday, bringing the software to version 4.2.1. The update comes on the heels of this month’s 4.2 (which actually contains iOS 4.3, go figure) update and addresses some issues users were experiencing after that update.
First and foremost, Apple TV 4.2.1 “addresses issues that may cause the screen to flicker or display incorrect color on some older TVs.” These issues got a good deal of press in the last week or so, and it’s good to see that Apple has moved quickly to squash this bug.
Other enhancements include a fix for “an issue where Apple TV may not wake up from sleep” as well as “an issue where audio may not be heard on some TV models after switching from another input.” Last but not least, Apple TV Software Update 4.2.1 includes stability and performance fixes -- but you’ll have to install it to find out what those are, apparently.
To grab the Apple TV 4.2.1 update, fire up your little black box and check for updates. Go ahead, we’ll wait.
