Ordinarily, when a developer finds success with a particular game, their follow up project generally follows in a similar genre. Kairosoft's announcement yesterday of the release of Hot Springs Story is a perfect example. However, Firemint seems to have no qualms about continually reinventing themselves. Their new game is titled Agent Squeek and stars an adorable secret agent mouse.
They first found extreme success with the iPhone staple, Flight Control [iTunes Link]. They then went on to create the successful Real Racing series, and now they're moving on yet again.
Much of the game is still under wraps, but according to the press release iOS gamers will "play as Agent Squeek, the dashing and debonair undercover mouse. Outsmart ferocious felines and crack fiendish challenges! Sneak, sprint and strategize in your quest to save every precious piece of missing cheese."
This definition leads us to believe it may be a type of stealth game in which players must sneak past dangerous cats to recover some cheese. We've played numerous stealth games before, but never with an impetus quite as strong as recovering stolen cheese.
No pricing or release date information is yet available (other than an unhelpfully vague "Coming 2011"), but Firemint has an outstanding track record on the iPhone thus far so we'll be keeping a close eye on Agent Squeek and relaying any information as it comes in.
