Between labor unrest and the media spotlight on poor working conditions at its plants, Apple manufacturer Foxconn can't seem to get a break -- but it seems the biggest challenge is just making the iPhone at all.
Reuters Canada is reporting that Foxconn Technology Group Chairman Terry Gou has confirmed his company is struggling to keep up with the demand for Apple's latest iPhone 5, which has proven something of a challenge to manufacture.
"It's not easy to make the iPhones," Gou told reporters following a business forum this week. "We are falling short of meeting the huge demand."
Foxconn's Hon Hai Precision Industry division is Apple's key supplier for the iPhone, and Gou declined to comment on analyst reports claiming the parent company's other unit, Foxconn International Holdings, might be taking on some of the burden as well.
The iPhone 5 is currently backordered three to four weeks on Apple's online store, regardless of color and carrier.
