Rising like a phoenix from the ashes of Cisco's now-defunct Flip camera, VIMIX Media has released their first socially-minded video creation app, which promises to convert raw footage into polished, shareable movies in about 30 seconds.
VIMIX Media has announced the availability of Givit, a free iPhone app which offers a revolutionary way to sew together multiple videos, multiple scenes from a single video or both -- all with a few simple taps of the screen.
Add transitions and effects, finish with music provided from the app or songs on your device and then share the final "Highlight" video with loved ones. Best of all, Givit has no length restrictions, with 5GB of free cloud storage available at signup and premium packages available for frequent users.
Effects include slow or fast motion and transitions, with one-click social sharing to Facebook or YouTube; finished Highlight videos can also be privately shared via email as well. Users can also watch and share videos directly from the Givit Facebook app online.
“The social video category needs a simple solution to make creation and sharing easy,” explains Givit founder and CEO, Greg Kostello. “We’ve rejected complexity for only the most useful video effects and controls people will want, giving them real power over their video to make it great. Rebuilt from the ground up, Givit replaces complex ‘editing’ controls with intuitive touch gestures that let users start sharing video worth sharing in just minutes.”
To fund the new Givit venture, the company has closed an additional $2.5 million funding round from ATA Ventures and JK&B Capital. The Givit service is launching at DEMO Fall 2012 on Tuesday and the free app is available now from the App Store.
