Who’s ready for some Halloween weekend? We sure are, it’s been a long and busy last full week of October with more tricks than treats. As always, however, the internet has plenty of love to give, including a sneak peek at Photoshop CS6, more Apple software updates, game updates and even a BlackBerry PlayBook promotion to chuckle about. Here’s the latest for this Friday, October 28, 2011.
Adobe Photoshop CS6 To Add 3D Enhancements, Aperture-Style Look
Some of have probably just cracked the shrink wrap on Adobe Creative Suite CS5.5, but already screenshots are leaking out from next year’s Photoshop CS6. According to AppleInsider, the next edition will include a darker interface theme (think Apple’s Aperture), all-new 3D capabilities, autosave and a host of other tweaks. So when can you buy a copy? Adobe isn’t saying (yet), but the usual “people familiar with the matter” are guessing sometime in May, 2012.
Apple Updates Aperture and HP, Epson Printer Drivers
Apple has been busy with the minor updates this week, usually right after this daily recap is already up for your reading pleasure. It happened again on Thursday night, with CNET reporting that the company pushed out Aperture 3.2.1 and some HP and Epson printer driver updates. The Aperture update targets launch crashes on Core Duo Macs as well as bugs with the Crop tool, Onscreen Proofing and Location menus. What are you waiting for? It’s fun and free to update!
Third Annual “Scream Fortress” Very Scary Halloween Special
For the third year, the cats over at Team Fortress 2 are offering their annual “Scream Fortress Very Scary Halloween Special,” which promises “that nothing’s going to scare you this year.” That means “no enormous haunted eyeball to terrorize you around an island filled with tons of secret loot and a giant skull!” If you have no idea what we’re talking about, just hit the website and prepare for your nerves to be shattered -- or maybe not! The festivities wind down on November 6, so you might want to make that trip sooner than later...
RIM Offers “Buy Two, Get One Free” BlackBerry PlayBook
Research In Motion continues to push their BlackBerry PlayBook tablet, which has thus far failed to impress most everyone who comes into contact with one. After a recent fire sale, what can they do to reclaim their mojo? How about a “Buy two, get one free” sale for the business crowd? And hey, if that’s not enough, they’ll throw in a free premium accessory like a black leather sleeve or a charging pod or even a six-foot HDMI cable. Still not convinced? Maybe if we wait long enough, they’ll throw in what the people really want -- a free iPad with every purchase.
