"Shadow Vanguard" may be a pretty over-the-top name for a game that's essentially about cops, but then again "Rainbow Six" is already a pretty strange name to begin with. Goofy names aside, Gameloft has revealed some of the first ever screenshots of the highly anticipated game in action, and it's looking absolutely fantastic.
It never ceases to amaze us how far games have come on iOS devices. Just a few short years ago in 2008 we were marveling at the graphics in simpler games like SimCity and Rolando. Fast forward to 2011 and we've got games like Shadow Vanguard with graphics that rival high-quality PlayStation 2 games.
It remains to be seen if the gameplay will hold up as well though. Gameloft was able to bring the FPS to the iPhone very successfully with games like N.O.V.A. and Modern Combat, but Rainbow Six is a different beast altogether. The game is more about slow, precise, tactical action. In the past, it's been a tough game to control even with a mouse and keyboard, let alone the tricky virtual buttons of the iPhone touch screen.
But that's neither here nor there. We'll judge the gameplay once we've gotten hands-on time with it. Now is the time for gawking at these screens.
