GarageBand 6.0.2 Update Allows Mac Version to Import iPad Projects
Remember when the iPad 2 was announced and Apple promised support for importing GarageBand for iPad projects into the Mac version? Sadly, the release came and went without this promised feature appearing -- until now.
MacRumors is reporting that Apple released a minor update to GarageBand for Mac on Thursday, bringing the iLife ’11 component to version 6.0.2. It may not sound like much, but the modest update brings a feature that users of the iPad version have been waiting a couple weeks for -- the ability to import their GarageBand for iPad projects into the Mac version.
Of course, with most Apple updates, there are usually some other fixes in store, and that appears to be the case here -- even though Cupertino is customarily quiet about what they may be in the release notes:
This update improves overall stability and addresses a number of minor issues, including the following:
- Support for opening projects imported from GarageBand for iPad.
This update is recommended for all GarageBand '11 users.
At the very least, GarageBand for Mac 6.0.2 allows iPad users to import their projects into the more powerful desktop version, where they can be refined and polished further on your road to stardom.
GarageBand for Mac 6.0.2 is available via Software Update or can be downloaded directly from Apple’s support website. The 47.44MB download requires Mac OS X 10.6.3 or later.
