The other week, the garbage disposer in my kitchen sink just died. Being the manly-man that I am, I immediately stepped in to fix the situation -- and promptly realized I had no idea how to work on a garbage disposer. Thankfully, the web is full of helpful people, and sites like FixYa can be a lifesaver. Now, with the release of a video-based iPhone app, you'll get precise visuals for those days when everything seems to fall apart.
While posting for help on a message board can be a great idea, the FixYa video app takes the process a bit further. Think of it like sending a video question directly to FixYa's experts, and they'll beam a walkthrough video right back to you.
So, when you find that leak under the sink, just select from 36 categories of issues, shoot a quick video explaining the problem, and you'll receive a video answer that removes a lot of the guesswork associated with a text-based explanation.

"Incorporating video on a mobile device brings our service to the next level, making the process of finding solutions both simpler and more engaging,” said FixYa CEO Yaniv Bensadon, via press release. “Our new FixYa app allows users to post their issue without hassle and get easy-to-follow solutions as quickly as possible. We believe this is the future of troubleshooting and customer support.”
Of course, we're not yet sure how quickly those responses come back, but given FixYa's 25 million users, it's a safe bet someone is going to have an answer for you. And ideally, you may not even have to post a video question. Selecting categories allows you to search for videos on previously answered issues.
The new FixYa app is a free download, today in the App Store. Now's as good a time as ever to get some help on fixing that old car, or you know, finding out how to fix a pipe you broke when taking out an old garbage disposer. Not that I know anything about that, of course.
