Ray Parker Jr. might not be afraid of no ghosts, but you may very well be after downloading the free Ghostbusters game from Capcom Interactive -- especially if you're averse to in-app purchases.
Capcom Interactive and Beeline Interactive released the free, universal Ghostbusters game to the App Store on Thursday, which places iPhone, iPod touch and iPad owners in the shoes of the iconic ghost-hunting team.
"Build your own team of Ghostbusters from the ground up as you bust troublemaking spooks throughout the city," the app description teases. "Form your own franchise in a local firehouse and answer ghostbusting calls, research and upgrade your equipment and conduct experiments to unlock better gear and tactics.
"Lead your elite squad of Ghostbusters through floor after floor of a haunted tower, where a malevolent evil deity has taken over, threatening to release negative psycho-kinetic energy into the streets of New York," the description continues. "Conquer each floor by battling the floor boss and capturing any resident ghosts. Spooks ‘n’ spirits best beware…it’s time to bust some ghostly behind!"
While the game's cartoonish graphics may look like a good way to kill some time on your iOS device, nothing in life is truly free, and Ghostbusters comes with a warning: The game may be free to play, "but charges real money for additional in-app content."
Judging from the Top In-App Purchases on the game's App Store page, that doesn't seem to be dissuading eager Ghosbusters tired of waiting for the third movie to finally get off the ground.
