Google’s Chrome For Mac Beta Arrives

It’s finally here! Google has released the official beta version of their Chrome browser for the Mac, and
you can download it immediately.
While the more adventurous among us have been content to use the developer builds of Chrome available for the last six months, Google has finally blessed the browser as full-featured and stable enough for a beta release,
according to MacRumors.
Windows users have had access to Chrome since it was unveiled as a beta in September 2008, with even Google co-founder Sergey Brin commenting at the time that the lack of a Mac version at the same time was “embarrassing.” The Mac version was anticipated within months of the Windows version, and Google even went so far as to target the first half of 2009 for release.
The first developer build of Chrome for Mac did indeed arrive within Google’s timeframe, and work will continue on those Developer Preview builds. Monthly builds are expected to be added to the beta release as well.
Better late than never, the official Chrome beta (tagged as Build 4.0.249.30) is here now and
available for download. It requires Mac OS X Leopard or Snow Leopard and an Intel-based Mac. Arriving to the beta stage at the same time is Chrome for Linux.
