Google co-founder and CEO Larry Page rarely gives interviews, but he recently sat down with Fortune for an exclusive covering a wide range of topics, including patents, self-driving cars and yes, Apple.
Fortune has published an exclusive interview with Google co-founder and CEO Larry Page this week. While the lengthy interview is intended for an upcoming Fortune magazine article, the company has shared some snippets of the 70-minute powwow on its CNNMoney website.
Among the topics discussed in the question-and-answer session are the problem of parking for the company's fleet of self-driving cars, organizing Google around product groups and where search is heading in the future.
Needless to say, mobile is a big part of the interview as Google faces the challenge of replicating its desktop search and advertising products on a myriad number of handheld devices.
The conversation invariably turned to Apple, and specifically the brewing contention between the two companies, which Page attempted to diffuse.
"I think it would be nice if everybody would get along better and the users didn't suffer as a result of other people's activities," the CEO said. "I try to model that. We try pretty hard to make our products be available as widely as we can. That's our philosophy. I think sometimes we're allowed to do that. Sometimes we're not."
The full interview is available on the CNNMoney website.
