Oh, Google. It's not that we don't admire your tenacity, it's that it's definitely keeping things interesting in this game of technology thrones. In this instance, Google's teaming up with Intel for the mobile throne.
The search engine giant is collaborating with the processor maker to help them get their hand at the smartphone game. "We want to make Intel archtecture the platform of choice for smartphones," said Intel CEO Paul Otellini onstage at the Intel Developer's Forum. "Every time we have collaborated with Google, good things have come out of it."
The partnership should come to full fruition by mid-2012, but what it will entail is still unknown. Currently, Google's struggling to keep its Chromebook afloat, despite worthy collaborations with manufacturers like Samsung. But with two major players holding hands in the mobile game, it could be better things ahead for Google and Intel alike. "Computing means a lot more than just computers," adds Otellini. "Just as computing as evolved, so too has Intel's architecture."
But will it be a worthy competitor for Apple's iPhone? If Intel can enter the mobile game, will it attempt to lure Apple in with its processors? One thing is for sure: the game is getting really good.
