We're still not completely sold on this whole Google Hangouts thing, but the search giant continues to make improvements, including a big update this week that brings the app in line with the rest of iOS 7.
Google released version 2.0 of its free Hangouts app on Thursday, finally delivering optimizations for iOS 7 as well as better native support for the iPad for users of its text, audio and video messaging service.
iPad users have the most to gain from Hangouts 2.0, which now includes picture-in-picture video calling in addition to being "fully optimized" for the larger tablet display. However, all Apple device owners will enjoy a look and feel that fits in nicely with iOS 7.
Hangouts 2.0 also introduces the ability to record and send video messages up to 10 seconds in length, as well as sending a map of your current location to other users, which could come in quite handy when trying to find friends or loved ones.
Last but not least, Google just couldn't help themselves, so they've infested Hangouts with animated stickers, which they claim will "help you share exactly how you're feeling." Or, you know, you could just tell folks the old-fashioned way... your call.
Hangouts 2.0 is now available from the App Store as a free download and requires iOS 6.0 or later.
