Google Launches Latitude For iPhone

When Google launched Latitude for Android-based phones, iPhone users everywhere pined for Latitude implementation on their beloved devices. Google has now launched Latitude for iPhone, but it might disappoint some users. That's because Google chose a web app implementation of the location-aware social networking service, forgoing a native app with push notifications.
According to the Google blog, Apple asked them to design a web-based version of the software so users would not confuse a native Latitude app with the built-in Maps application. While Latitude does work, the location finding feature was not always accurate when we tested it. It was able to find the city, but not able to narrow down the exact street location.
If you're feeling adventurous you can try Latitude on your own device by heading over to http://google.com/latitude/ in Safari on your iPhone. You can also add a webclip to your home screen for easy access.
