Google Street View Coming to iPhone
Posted 10/27/2008 at 2:36:51pm | by Danny Estrada

street view

If you are anything like us, and we know you are, you spend countless hours combing through the Craigslist apartment rentals pretending to move to the large conversion lofts in swanky part of town. Only problem is, when using Google Maps on the iPhone to see the likely-hood of starting our new lives as bohemians, we can only rely on its satellite images and our tiny knowledge of how festive some neighborhoods are.

Soon you'll have the option to use Google's Street View to scope out the neighborhood you will most likely pretend to move to on the iPhone. With Street View, you can see if you will be buying organic local produce from the quaint mom and pop bodega, or if you're going to be greeted by an angry old lady at the new Super Walmart they are building across the street. Apple has seeded iPhone 2.2, Firmware Beta 2 with fully enabled Google Street Views to developers. The Beta 1 version of the iPhone 2.2 had the hidden API's (application program interface), but Apple hadn't enabled them yet. So thank you Apple, you make our imaginary walk home at night that much more comforting.

Still no copy and paste.

Check out iPhoneYap's gallery of images. Note: iPhoneYap is getting pounded with traffic. Please be patient.

Update: iPhoneYap has confirmed that have migrated to a new server, so their traffic issues should be resolved.
