Google's Chrome OS to Debut This Fall
Google's cloud-based operating system will be set to launch in the Fall, the company has said.
"We are working on bringing the device later this fall," said Google VP of product management Sundar Pichai to Yahoo News. "It's something which we are very excited by ... We expect it to reach millions of users on day one."
Pichai also told Reuters that he believes Chrome OS is one of the few operating systems that will have plenty of compatible applications. "You don't need to redesign Gmail for it to work on Chrome. Facebook does not need to write a new app for Chrome."
Of course, the real speculation lies behind what kind of hardware Chrome OS will need to run and whether or not manufacturing companies will want to include the operating system on their machines.
