It's getting harder for tech companies to keep their unannounced products bottled up, and Google is no exception, with the company's latest Android-powered, Nexus-branded handset has just been outed ahead of its announcement on Monday.
The Verge is reporting that Google's next flagship Nexus handset will be announced at the company's Android event on Monday, October 29, and judging from a retailer leak, you'll be able to buy one the following day.
As revealed by U.K.-based retailer Carphone Warehouse, the LG-created Nexus 4 is indeed real and will arrive with Android 4.2, a variant of the existing Jelly Bean release rather than Google moving on to the next candy on the alphabet, which many believe will be Key Lime Pie.
The Nexus 4 features a 4.7-inch 1280 x 768 resolution display, a quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor, eight-megapixel camera and a mere 8GB of onboard storage, as well as the customary NFC chip for Google Wallet and other wireless services.
One potentially new feature outed by the leak is "Gesture Typing," which is described as a "Swype-like" method for text input, allowing the user to type by "dragging your finger across the screen from letter to letter."
A SIM-free, contract-free version of the Nexus 4 is listed in the Carphone Warehouse inventory system for £389.95 ($629.15 USD), available in black or white. If the leak proves correct, the device should go on sale the day after Google's October 29 event.
