Last week, Google announced its own Android event on October 29, which directly competes with the long-planned Microsoft launch of Windows Phone 8 on the same day. Now the search giant is finding out karma is a… well, you know.
The Next Web is reporting that Google's big "the playground is open" event for October 29 may come with a lot less surprise than the Android maker first planned now that its big plans have leaked out all across the internet.
First up is the Nexus 7, which has been spotted on several occasions over the last week with 32GB of storage. According to sources, the seven-inch tablet is also about to get HSPA+ 3G data support, which is really about the only thing the low-cost Android tablet was really missing.
If you prefer your tablets a bit closer to iPad size, the report also notes that Google is expected to introduced a new 10-inch tablet with the codename of "Manta," running a new Android 4.2 OS which is said to retain the Jelly Bean designation. The Samsung-created tablet may or may not be called the Nexus 10, and is said to come with a 2560x1600 resolution display.
Moving on to smartphones, the earlier leaks confirming an LG-manufactured Nexus handset appear to be spot-on, which appears to be dubbed the "LG Nexus 4." Also powered by Android 4.2, the handset is expected to feature a quad-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm APQ8064 Snapdragon processor, 4.7-inch 1280x768 display, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage and dual cameras (8MP on back, 1.3MP on front).
So what about this curious Android 4.2? "It has been confirmed that as part of Android 4.2, Google will introduce ‘Content in the center,’ which will allow users to access Play Store content from a widget and ‘Tablet Sharing’ which will suit families and enterprise users, providing them with a simple and easy to switch between several users on a tablet, each with their own email and apps," the report notes.
With all of this information leaked, here's hoping that Microsoft is able to keep a few surprises left for Windows Phone 8 fans on the same day.
