iPhone plus Starbucks equals addiction heaven -- and now that pairing will truly dominate, as the coffee giant has announced its Starbucks Mobile iOS app can finally be used at stores nationwide.
iLounge is reporting that Starbucks has officially launched their mobile payment service across all U.S. company-operated stores on Tuesday, “allowing users of its Starbucks Card Mobile app to pay for their coffee and other Starbucks products directly from their iOS device.”
The announcement may not be such fresh news to frequent Starbucks customers throughout California, Seattle and New York City, where a pilot test program has been ongoing with the Starbucks Card Mobile app for more than a year. Now the company has expanded the program to all U.S. stores, which means we’ll likely see a lot more iPhone users grabbing their caffeine fix from coast to coast now.
The Starbucks Card Mobile app allows customers to pay for their purchases “by displaying a barcode on their iOS device that could be read by the scanner at the register,” according to iLounge.
The free Starbucks Card Mobile app is available to download now; the 4.6MB download is compatible with the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad (though it’s not a universal app) and requires iOS 3.1 or later.
