Phil Schiller with iPhone

It’s pretty much a given that Apple executives are using their own products, including the iPhone. If you’ve ever wondered what apps they might have installed, you can wonder no more — at least in Phil Schiller’s case.

The New York Times’ Bits blog has a followup story to an extensive piece on the iPhone App Store which throws back the veil of mystery on the timeless question: “Hey Phil, what’s on your iPhone?”

Apple’s senior vice president for worldwide product marketing Phillip W. Schiller actually leans toward more commercial tastes on his device. At the top of his list is Shazam, the magical app that identifies a song that’s playing and even lets you download it right away from iTunes.

“There’s just something so amazing about being anywhere, and some music starts playing and you just hold up your phone and can find out what it is,” Schiller gushes. “You never again have to say, ‘That’s a great song! Who is it by?’”

Schiller also singles out the iPhone’s Facebook app in addition to CNN. “It’s really cool having the news in your pocket,” he explains. Being a sports fan, his iPhone also features MLB.com at Bat, NBA Game Time and ESPN ScoreCenter.

Like many users, Schiller also likes to take a break now & again and get in some gameplay, with his favorites being Eliminate from ngmoco and the retro-style puzzle game geoDefense.

Last but not least, Schiller also listed Best Camera, the app from renowned photographer Chase Jarvis that lets iPhone users become photo artists with 14 filters and effects that can be applied to your photos.
