If you loves you some iOS gaming, then this will come as very happy news: The much anticipated announcment that the iControlPad will become a twitchy fingered reality has been realized...for the jailbroken iPhone.
Now, can we get a w00t-w00t?
As awesome as the increasingly diverse range of games available to iPhone and iPod touch owners is, it's a fair argument that many of the games that we know and love could be just a little more fabulous if the control possibilities weren't so darned limited. Seriously, how many of you out there can look me in the eye and say that their high score wasn't crippled by a less than perfect on screen joypad experience?
By introducing buttons, a joypad and analog sticks into the mix, the iControlPad has the potential to put that much more hurt on the likes of Sony and Nintendo by expanding the capabilities of our iPhones and iPod touches to fully realized gaming machines. Admittedly, in watching the video, the iControlPad appears to be a touch on the fragile side, but without laying hands on the product it's hard for us to say whether or not the build quality is of a premium nature or not.
The first mass production run of the iControlPad is limited to 3000 units. That's not a huge number when you consider the thousands of folks out there that play games on their iOS device on a daily basis. With one look at the video we've snagged from the interwebz of the iControlPad rocking out F-Zero on a jailbroken iPhone, we're sure you'll agree that those 3000 units will be sold out faster than you can say "Win!".
