Less than a week after its release, a user at iFixit has posted a teardown of a new MacBook Pro.
Veteran take-aparter Walter Galan, who is one of only seven users on the site to receive the iFixit "Warranty Voided" badge for creating three featured teardowns, posted instructions for taking apart the 15-inch 2.4 GHz model.
That MacBook Pro, the cheapest of the 15-inch variety, sells for $1,799. It has a Core i5 processor.
Galan noted that the new MacBook Pro uses the model number A1286, the same number as the older MacBook Pro equipped with a Core 2 Duo processor.
Galan also said that Apple stopped using five-point Torx screws, and switched to tri-wing screws instead. He said the Airport and Bluetooth card was the same one found in the MacBook, and that the speaker and subwoofers now have seperate plastic enclosures.
Galan posted about 30 images in the 18-step teardown. Each image is in sharp focus, with a clean background.
Whether you want to perform upgrades or make repairs on your own, or you just like looking at photos of disassembled computers, Galan's hard work will show you everything you need, including what tools to use. (Though, we're curious who decided to name a tool a spudger.)
While the iFixit community posts teardowns to their site, they don't have a monopoly on cool images of things being taken apart. The Apple Certified Technicians at TechRestore posted a roughly 3-minute video using stop-frame animation to show the disassembly and reassembly of the iPad.
They used 1,675 still images to create the animation, which you should really watch in HD.
TechRestore also posted a handful of the images to photo sharing service Flickr.
