Perennial favorite iFixit has done what we're too scared to do: they've disassembled not one, but two separate brand-new iPads, showing us the precious insides of the iPad 2 3G GSM and the iPad 2 3G CDMA models. If exposed circuitry makes you queasy, stay away; otherwise, the line starts behind us!
Since iFixit already tore apart the iPad 2, there's not much in the way of news here; the main difference is the MicroSIM slot, unique to the GSM version of the iPad 2 (the CDMA iPad 2 doesn't utilize SIM cards of any type). That said, there's an extra antenna in the CDMA version, similar to the configuration of the Verizon iPhone 4, and the various chips that provide 3G connectivity for the CDMA iPad 2 are the same as are found in the Verizon iPhone.
For a complete rundown of all the nitty-gritty specifics, including every last part number, head over to the iFixit teardown.
