iFixit Tears Down the Mac Mini
They surely don't let the grass grow under them at iFixit, do they? The new aluminum Mac Mini was released only yesterday, but the teardown is already on their site. It's pretty amazing when you look at the pictures to see how much is crammed in there.
Of course one of the big additions to the tiny little powerhouse is the HDMI which was the subject of much longing and much beseeching. Turns out Apple listens if enough people complain loudly enough. Of course, this comes at what appears to be the cost of one USB port, but what's one port when there are splitters out there?

Joining the ranks of the unibody aluminum enclosures on the MacBook line, the Mini is redesigned to be sleek, light (only 3 pounds!), greener than it was even before, and almost invisible. Apple did away with the bulky power supply action, building it into the Mini so there's just one simple cord from it to the wall. Yes, that's right, they built the power supply right inside, and still had room for everything else.

As usual, iFixit has detailed pictures with annotations and concise explanations of what the pieces and parts are in the photos. There's tons more where these came from, so if you want to see a tightly, beautifully constructed little block of awesome, head on over.
