Just after news reached us about the potentially offensive Karoshi: Suicide Salaryman, we heard about yet another App Store game that is sure to ruffle some feathers in the United States. App Store developers seem to be on a never-ending quest to eventually offend everyone in the country with their games. First we got Baby Shaker, then Karoshi, and now Smuggle Truck is set to become the focus of media ire across the country.
The game is a side-scrolling, physics-based driving game which tasks the player with avoiding such perils as razor wire fences and ditches in an attempt to transport immigrants across the border illegally.
Owlchemy Labs developed the game during a game design jam in Boston. They say that the creation of the game was inspired by witnessing the frustration their friends have felt when trying to legally immigrate to the United States. However, the game's detractors call it "disgraceful," and say it makes light of the deaths of people who have died trying to cross the border.
The game is set to be released next month for iPhone and iPad, assuming it passes Apple inspection.
