One of the bonuses we've come to enjoy immensely on iTunes and at the iPhone App Store is the Genius feature. Genius play lists rock our parties and Genius recommendations have led us to switch to better apps than the ones we normally use for everyday tasks. So it was only a matter of time before the iPad App Store got a little of the same kind of love.

Thursday saw the App Store offer up a "Try Before You Buy" option that pointed you in the direction of Free or Lite versions of apps to let you get a taste. Now we see the folks at 9 to 5 Mac have noticed a new wrinkle in the iPad App Store. Not only will you get the same trial pointer, but the iPad App Store now has Genius recommendations. So in case you really like Wikipanion (2MB), but are pressed for room on your 16GB iPad, you can swap it out for the Wikipedia Mobile app (380KB). Seriously. You've just made room for one whole early Beatles song.
Even better than that is the iPad Upgrades section. Let's say you've been getting by on the lower resolution iPhone apps that run natively on your iPad. Sure, Pandora as an iPhone app gets the job done, but have you seen the iPad version? You've got all that screen real estate just waiting to be used. By all means, while you're checking out our Free App Friday highlights at the store, ask for the upgrade.
