Confirming rumors from the last week or so, Apple today announced that the iPad will indeed be available at “most” Best Buy stores as well as their own Apple Stores.
AppleInsider is reporting on the announcement, which puts the iPad in stores this Saturday, April 3rd -- including all 221 U.S. Apple retail locations as well as “most” Best Buy locations.
"iPad connects users with their apps and content in a far more intimate and fun way than ever before," Apple CEO Steve Jobs said in the company’s press release on Monday morning. "We can't wait for users to get their hands and fingers on it this weekend."
If you buy from The Apple Store, you’ll also have the option of a free personal setup service with purchase, which will help customize your iPad by helping you set up your e-mail or even loading software from the App Store. The U.S. Apple Store locations will also hold special iPad workshops on Saturday morning to allow customers to learn more about what the device is capable of.
If you don’t have an Apple Store or a Best Buy near you, the good news is that the iPad will also be sold through Apple authorized resellers as well as campus bookstores.
Rumors broke out in recent days that Best Buy would indeed be stocking the iPad on launch day, which were confirmed by the news this morning. There are about 675 Best Buy locations across the country with the Apple “store within a store” sections.
Of course, as announced back in late January when the iPad was first unveiled, only the Wi-Fi model will be available on Saturday. The model which also adds 3G service won’t arrive until late April, and at a $130 premium over the Wi-Fi-only models.
