Each iteration of Apple's iPhone adds a little more in the way of technological innovation. While some may argue the advancements are mild, there's no denying how much the iPhone has improved as a whole over these past five years. But what will the iPhone look like in, say, the year 2050? Our sister magazine, Tap!, takes an in-depth look.
Since the birth of the technological age, people have tried to predict what the future holds. And if someone showed you an iPhone 5 back in 2006, you would have to admit the device would have blown your mind. So, when Tap! Magazine decided to look 38-years into the iOS future, the results are pretty out there. But it's all based on actual, hopefully upcoming, technology.
Some of the major features -- all grounded in actual tech research -- include a flexible, see-through display, and even controlling the theoretical iPhone 24 via contact lenses.
Even Mac|Life's own Susie Ochs weighed-in on the subject, hoping for a more capable artificial intelligence.
"A learning Siri would be incredible. The more I use it, the more I bump up against its limitations, where it should be the other way ’round -- getting more useful the more I use it," said Ochs. "Also, as someone who just lost a contact lens this morning, I look forward to one day losing a contact lens fitted with carbon nanotube antennae. I just don’t look forward to replacing it."
While Susie's busy finding that contact lens, be sure to check out the new issue of Tap! Magazine for the full story. Just head over to the App Store and download now to take advantage of half-off pricing, until October 14.
Of course, there won't be an iPhone 24. As we all know, the world is going to end on December 21. A bummer, for sure, but at least we'll go out with our iPad Minis! Right?
