After the announcement of the 3G S last week at the WWDC keynote, plenty of people rushed to preorder their iPhone, causing a huge rush on the online Apple Store, leaving many frustrated about getting errors when trying to preorder. But after the first day it seems the process got smoother, and everyone that wanted a preorder was able to get one (either Apple or AT&T). The preorders were told that they would get it by June 19, the launch date for the 3G S.
But those who preordered may actually get them in their hands a day or two earlier than everyone else. Seems that the shipments have been sent, and people are seeing delivery dates of either the June 17 or June 18.
Some people even have their 3G S units already, such as those folks over at MyDock.com.br (a Brazillian site), who have even posted a video showing off their unlocked 3G S phones.
MacRumors also has a few bits of info about the 3G S:
- 2048 x 1536 is the resolution for the camera - The olephobic screen does make a difference with fingerprints - "Speed is impressive" - Video recording seems to be only 'ok', it is dependent on ambient light

I got the same message - RECEIVER REQUESTED HOLD. Aren't I the receiver? I didn't request a hold. My new iPhone is sitting in Louisville, KY holding to see if UPS can "attempt" delivery on a future date. It doesn't say what that future date is.
Congrats to the people who already have they're new iPhones!
And good luck to all of you who hope to have them today! I hope the UPS trucks come early!
just checked my UPS tracking and saw this:
THE RECEIVER REQUESTED A HOLD FOR A FUTURE DELIVERY DATE. UPS WILL ATTEMPT DELIVERY ON DATE REQUESTED
So, guess there won't be early shipments after all. :(
