Rejoice! According to ChangeWave Research, a survey of iPhone 4 users shows that they experience fewer dropped calls. If this is the case, then perhaps the iPhone 4 antenna issue really isn't as big a deal as everyone is making it out to be.
ChangeWave's study surveyed 213 new iPhone users, who reported that they experienced fewer dropped calls. In June, 6.3 percent of iPhone 3GS users in the study reported experiencing dropped calls. Of the iPhone 4 users they surveyed in July, only 5.4 percent of the sample reported that they had experienced dropped calls.
Interestingly, the study reveals different results than Apple's own data, which indicated that the iPhone 4 dropped calls at a higher rate. Apple chalked this up to the fact that fewer cases were available after the handset's launch.
We're not sure if we're convinced by a self-reported study from early adopters, not to mention the data doesn't say anything about whether anyone surveyed used cases on their phones, which would reduce the number of dropped calls. And, the iPhone 4 is a far more polished product than the iPhone 3GS--if dropped calls are all that's keeping it from perfection, we don't want Jobs to have any excuses not to fix it!
