Apple has ceased accepting iPhone 4 reservations for in-store pickup and home delivery for June 24. New orders will now be delivered on or before July 2. Customers who were unable to successfully order an iPhone 4 are no longer allowed to make an in-store reservation and instead are told to report to their local store to stand in line for a new iPhone on a first-come first-served basis, that is unless they want to wait until July 2.
Apple is effectively sold out of the first batche of pre-order iPhone 4 phones for sale at their own retail stores. We initially caught wind of this when we heard about customers who received the following error message while attempting to order an iPhone 4 for home delivery:

Later, while researching the above problem we noted a subtle change in availablilty of the iPhone 4 in Apple's online store.

There you have it folks - Apple is for all practical purposes sold out of pre-order stock for the June 24 release of the iPhone 4.
