If you're wondering when the iPhone 5S and its little buddy the iPhone 5C will be coming out, September 20 seems like a good date to pin your hopes on. Today, noted Japanese business publication Nikkei reported (via Cnet) that both devices would make their debut on that Friday.
That's not as concrete as hearing the news from Apple itself, but it falls neatly in line with the widespread rumor that Apple will announce both devices at a press event on September 10. In Japan, at least, both phones will be available through Softbank and KDDI but not through NTT DoCoMo.
Unfortunately, that's the only real news found in the announcement. The article reportedly didn't go into much detail about the iPhone 5C, although it repeated the longstanding expectations that the iPhone 5S will include a fingerprint sensor and upgraded hardware.
Still, there's little real reason to doubt the date. Last year, the iPhone 5 was revealed at a press event on September 12, and the phone itself started appearing in stores on September 21 in the United States, Japan, and several other countries.
