iPhone To Gain Netflix Streaming?
Posted 08/04/2009 at 7:09:55pm | by Cory Bohon

Netflix_iPhoneNetflix might not have the best catalog when it comes to instantly viewable movies, but when it comes to devices it works with, they have you covered. That is unless you're on an iPhone or Apple TV. You can get Netflix on your Xbox 360, TiVo, Mac/PC web browser, and certain other setop boxes.

A new rumor sparked by an unknown industry executive believes that Netflix may soon be making its way to iPhone. Perhaps the application would take advantage of the built-in HTTP streaming, but one thing that's almost certain is that AT&T may get upset over possible bandwidth surges just as they did with the SlingPlayer mobile app.

Of course, this is just a rumor, but it would be nice to watch movies from Netflix (or Hulu?) without paying outrageous fees for iTunes movies/TV shows.

avatarStop whining, AT&T

I don't know about the rest of you, but when the 1st gen iPhone came out, I was proud it was on AT&T. I have been an AT&T customer for years, even when they changed to Cingular and back again.

Now, with all this trouble and complaining from At&T, I'm starting to get a bit annoyed. I own a 3GS now, and am STILL waiting for AT&T to turn on MMS. If Netflix came to the iPhone, it would be the greatest thing ever!

Hey AT&T, instead of getting your panties in a bunch every time a developer invents the "next best thing" that is going to use up bandwith, why don't your get on the ball and "invent a better mousetrap"? Get your system upgraded . . . NOW! Do you want to be the best, or are you content playing second fiddle to Verizon?

Enough said . . .

Chill out JustinHoward22. If verison had an exclusive agreement for iPhone, we would all just have a different set of complaints to log. If you hate AT&T so much, go somewhere else. If having an iPhone is worth dealing with AT&T... well, I guess you've made that decision. Until iPhone/AT&T lose exclusivity in the US, AT&T has zero incentive to provide additional features/upgrades/bandwidth/...etc. It is a waste of time to think otherwise.

I would love to have Netflix streaming on the iPhone. I hope this one isn't just a rumor.
