Many Apple fans around the world wouldn't be able to go a day without their beloved iPhone, and it appears that South Korea is no exception. Today KT Corporation, the local carrier of the iPhone in South Korea, announced that there have been one million iPhones sold in only 9 months.
The iPhone 3GS first went on sale in South Korea in November 2009, making it one of the last major countries to receive the device.
The iPhone 4 arrived in the country on September 10th, ushering in even more sales. KT Corp handled around 350,000 pre-orders of the much awaited device, leaving the company optimistic about reaching 1.2 million total iPhone sales by early October.
"The iPhone also drove the growth of wireless data usage among mobile subscribers, as it fueled the price competition among mobile carriers, " said KT Corporation in its press release. "iPhone users consume about 32 times more wireless data than conventional phone users and four times more than other smartphone users."
Electronista points out that this is typically a harsh market for smartphones. So, the fact that Apple was able to break into the market with 1 million devices sold in 9 months is truly amazing.
