iPhone Users Pay For And Play More Games Than Anyone Else

According to the latest research from Nielsen, we smartphone owners goof off with our devices more than anything else. It really is all about the games. Games are used more than any other app, even more than checking the weather, news, Facebook or Twitter.
Not only do we play, but we pay, too. Among smartphone owners who have downloaded a game in the last 30 days, 93 percent were more than willing to pay for them, while 87 percent paid for entertainment apps. Only 76 percent threw down coin for news apps.
iPhone users are the most guilty gamers, too; apparent experts at pretending to be doing something important, they spend more than twice the average time playing as users on other smartphones. Your average iPhone gamer spends 14.7 hours a month tapping and swiping and going for high scores, while Android owners spend 9.6 hours; across the remaining platforms, including Windows Phone 7 and Blackberry, the average gamer spends 7.8 hours a month.
Apparently while we are doing all of this gaming, we are not bothering to learn anything or keep up our hygiene: Educational apps are only downloaded 11 percent of the time, and rounding out the bottom are household/personal care apps, which are only downloaded 6 percent of the time.
Clearly, the iPhone delivers for gamers. And game developers.
