iPhones for $99 at Walmart?
Walmart, home of everything you want under one roof at a reasonable price, is rumored to be getting ready to add the 4GB Apple iPhone to its mobile phone section and at a considerable price cut.
Rumors are circulating that the iPhone will be released on December 28th with a price of $99. Supposedly, an internal letter making the rounds within the corporate giant also suggest that the iPhone will be sold thru the POS and not at any Sam's Club Kiosks managed by Radioshack. Allegedly, the usual "new and existing customers in good standings can purchase the iPhone 3G with a 2 year contract." It seems also that employees are already receiving training guides and are expected to make a smooth transition for activations in Walmart stores.
Apple already has iPods and Apple accessories placed in Walmart, a reduced priced iPhone in the retail chain would extend the phones market.

Why WallieMart? Why not ALL other retail locations? Why does Apple want to contribute to the dysfunction that is WalMart?

It's about time the iPhone came to Wal-Mart.Although I would have been willing to bet my iPod touch that it was going to go to Target first. (Good thing I didn't.) Is there a possibility that the new 4gig iPhone from Wal-Mart has the option to go prepaid? -Kevin Duncan
