Although the iPod Photo Camera Connector looks physically like one of
the dongles into the new iPad Camera Connection Kit don't let its good looks
suck you in -- it doesn't work with Apple's new iPad.
We located our iPod Photo Camera Connector deep inside of the iPod storage silo and attempted to use it on a more than willing iPad today. The iPad was quick to reject the five year old dongle with a notification dialog that exclaimed "This accessory is not supported by iPad. "
Apple's new iPad Camera Connection Kit sells for the same $29 that the old one did, but it now includes two dongles. One with a Dock Connector-to-USB adapter and another with Dock Connector to SD Card reader. You can use one to download pictures directly from a camera with a USB cable (not included) or directly from an SD card (not included) with the other.
Apple isn't shipping these and they were not available on launch day. It is expected that they will be available in late April.
