Remember that pesky iPod touch prototype with a camera from last year? If you were disappointed that it never made it to market, you might have another chance. It’s back on eBay with about a day and a half left -- assuming that Apple’s legal team doesn’t lop the auction off at the knees before then.
9to5Mac is reporting that a 32GB iPod touch -- complete with rear camera -- is back on eBay. You’ll recall that some of these have popped up in the year since rumors were going hot and heavy about a camera-equipped iPod touch being unveiled at last September’s music-themed event, which never came to pass.
What makes this new auction different is that the unit appears to be fully working and rocking the now-outdated iPhone OS 3.1.3. While we’re assuming that can be updated to iOS 4 just like all the other iPod touch models, despite all of the photos accompanying the auction, we never actually see the camera in use, so… buyer beware, as always.
At this writing, the auction is already past the $60 mark with about a day and a half remaining. Assuming the legal sharks at Apple don’t cut this one off at the knees, you might just be able to buy a slice of iPod history for reasonably cheap here…
