iSlate Specs Leaked? Not So Much…

As the Apple tablet rumors continue at a steady boil, somewhere out there is a prankster with a little too much time on their hands.
Okay, take this one with a grain of salt, folks. According to TUAW, random tech blog PhoneArena.com has published photos of what they’re calling “internal Apple documents” claiming to reveal the specs of Apple’s forthcoming tablet -- which they also claim is really, truly called “iSlate” after all.
Among the specs for the fabled iSlate are a 7.1” multitouch display “with fingerprint-resistant coating” running a 2.26 GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB DDR3 RAM and 120GB internal hard drive.
The problem with the “specs” are numerous: iSlate uses a new Mac OS X “Clouded Leopard” 10.7 yet has the ability to “Browse & download apps from the App Store”? Hmmm… don’t think so. A razor-thin tablet with a 120 GB serial ATA 4200 rpm hard drive instead of flash memory? Likely not. Built-in projector? Say… what?!
Of course, TUAW makes the best point of all, which is that if these documents were even remotely on the mark, Apple’s legal department would have already had this little tech blog for lunch. Not to mention we really don’t see Apple going all widget-based for Mac OS X 10.7… but that’s just us.
