You know the drill: Head to the Mozilla.org website and get downloading! But this may be the last time you need to manually refresh Firefox, thanks to version 15 adding the ability to download stealth updates in the background.
Mozilla has announced the availability of Firefox 15, which the company released on Tuesday for Mac, Windows and Linux. In keeping with recent tradition, there aren't a ton of changes that will be obvious to end users, but plenty for developers to enjoy.
Firefox 15 does add optimized memory usage for add-ons, which end users who use them frequently are likely to notice. The web browser now updates silently in the background as well, so in theory this will be the last version you'll need to actively seek out, download and install on your own.
HTML5 gets a trio of tweaks this time around as well, adding native support for the Opus audio codec, played attribute support for <audio> and <video> elements and media attribute support for the <source> element as well.
The rest of Firefox 15's changes are aimed at developers and range from integrating a JavaScript debugger into the tools for those users, a new layout view in Inspector, implementation of a high precision event timer and CSS word-break property and finally, a new responsive design tool for easily switching between desktop and mobile views of a website.
Firefox 15 is available now and ready for your downloading pleasure from the Mozilla website. Go on, you know you want it...
