iTunes 11 may barely be a couple of weeks old, but that doesn't mean Apple's latest media player software didn't arrive with a few bugs and quirks, but some of those have now been stomped out with the first minor update.
Apple released iTunes 11.0.1 late Thursday afternoon, offering the first round of bug fixes and even resurrecting a feature lost when the revamped media player software first hit the internet in late November.
"This update to the new iTunes addresses an issue where new purchases in iCloud may not appear in your library if iTunes Match is turned on, makes iTunes more responsive when searching a large library, fixes a problem where the AirPlay button may not appear as expected, and adds the ability to display duplicate items within your library," the typically brief Apple support notes read. "This update also includes other important stability and performance improvements."
Although the disappearing AirPlay icon was easy enough to fix, the ability to display duplicates within a library is welcome back into the fold -- for whatever reason, Apple chose to remove this feature when iTunes 11 first launched.
That said, we didn't have any problems with new purchases in iCloud or searching our fairly large library, but it's always nice to see Apple nip such issues in the bud before we can find them ourselves.
iTunes 11.0.1 is available via Software Update or the full 191.08MB download can be had for OS X from the Apple support website; 32-bit and 64-bit updates for Windows are also available.
