itunes 8

Pandora-like “Genius” smart playlists and HD TV downloads may be in your near future... at least according to some who claim to have noticed a mysterious “Download Now” button that popped up in the middle of Apple's iTunes page that allegedly linked to a download of iTunes 8.0. According to some of the users who clicked on this, the file it was liked to had already been pulled.  The button disappeared from the page soon after.

One charlatan user who claims to have downloaded the update successfully, says that iTunes 8.0 was “a HUGE upgrade.”  But that he had been using iTunes 6 so he wasn’t sure of the newest features.

The fellow, who had initially balked at the idea of offering the file for others to download, has now made it available. Guess what? It was a hoax. The link was for a Zune setup file. Yeah, pure evil.
