itunes2008Viva La Vida by Coldplay, The Dark Knight, Burnin' Up a music video by the Jonas Brothers, and The Shack by author William P. Young were among those chosen to top the Best of 2008 list according to the iTunes Store. This list of media includes, Top Downloads of movies, TV, audiobooks, podcasts, iPhone apps, free and paid, and all genres of music. This year, with the explosions of iPhone apps, people are combing over the Top 2008 free App Store apps to see if anything was missed.

Labels and developers alike are scrambling to advertise that their products have topped the lists. Eleven Seven Music, one of the leading independant rock labels, is already praising Buckcherry's Black Butterfly as the choice for best Rock Album and Motley Crue's Saints of Los Angeles for top rock song. Podcasters Teckzilla and Ask a Ninja were happy to see themselves on the list. Plus, upcoming artist are also being noticed. For example, Dancing with the Stars contestant turned singer, Julianna Hough secured a spot in the Best New Artists of 2008. The Dark Knight is the top movie download of 2008 even though it hasn't been released yet.
