It's hard to believe that Apple hasn't released a completely new version of its iWork suite since the 2009 edition, but we're at least getting an update this week that brings OS X Mountain Lion support.
Apple has released minor updates to the iWork '09 lineup today, bringing Pages to version 4.2, Keynote to version 5.2 and Numbers to version 2.2. Not surprisingly, the trio of updates add support for OS X Mountain Lion.
"Store documents in iCloud and keep them automatically up to date across your Mac, iPad, iPhone, iPod touch and the web," the release notes explain. "Changes made to a document on one device automatically appear on all your other devices."
The apps also take advantage of OS X Mountain Lion's Dictation feature, which allows users to speak words, numbers or sentences and watch them appear in a document.
Last but not least, each app "is also enhanced to take advantage of the Retina Display on the new MacBook Pro, so documents appear sharper and more vibrant."
Guess that means iWork won't be getting a major update this year, but hey, these updated features are now available for current users absolutely free through the Mac App Store or Software Update.
