After two cute-yet-addictive outings on consoles, Joe Danger is set to bring his stunt motorcycle gameplay to our iOS devices on Thursday. If you didn't happen to catch the prior games on PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, that's OK. Joe Danger Touch looks like it offers most of what has made the series a hit, while adding in some new features for mobile.
"This is a very different Joe Danger experience. It's a completely new game, with entirely unique mechanics," said Hello Games founder Sean Murray via press release. "This isn't a dumbed down version, it stays true to the core arcade ideas of the original, with the same lovely aesthetics, solid framerate and tight controls. It's a console quality game in your hands."
The Joe Danger games have you guiding a motorcycle stuntman named--go figure--Joe through a series of crazy obstacle-filled tracks. Joe Danger Touch features 50 levels, and besides the new addition of arcade-inspired touch controls, Hello Games is promising an experience filled with new content.
Joe Danger Touch will allegedly offer over 20 hours of gameplay and 30 unlock able characters. As you might expect, GameCenter leader boards play a vital role in keeping you hooked, trying to perfect each track faster and more completely than your friends.
One of my favorite aspects to the Joe Danger series is the cartoonish aesthetic. The gameplay reminds me a bit of another excellent bike game, Trials HD, but without the grueling, realistic physics. But even if the visuals and mechanics are comparatively more light-hearted, perfecting tracks is still an obsessive exercise.
Joe Danger should hit the App Store around midnight on Thursday.
