(Image courtesy of Engadget)The world may be waiting in anticipation of Apple’s iPad availability come late March, but the folks at Fusion Garage have been busy making their own tablet even cooler than it was before.
According to Engadget, the forthcoming Joojoo tablet from Fusion Garage saw an increase in orders in the wake of Apple’s iPad announcement, and production of the 12-inch tablet is now underway and on target to start shipping this month.
Most revealing, Fusion Garage CEO Chandra Rathakrishna was happy to divulge that the Joojoo will support full Adobe Flash playback at launch, and HD Flash once Flash 10.1 is officially released -- unlike that certain other tablet device from Cupertino which doesn’t play nice with Adobe’s technology. For now, YouTube HD videos will play in a separate player plug-in that takes advantage of GPU acceleration.
“We have a bigger ‘app store’ than Apple because we have the full Internet,” the CEO
boasts to Engadget. Be that as it may, Fusion Garage is also planning a “web store” to help Joojoo users find the best web applications for their device.
And what does the Joojoo maker think of Apple’s latest announcement? “Imitation is the greatest form of flattery,” Rathakrishna brags, going so far as to compare Steve Jobs’ use of the word “magical” to describe the iPad to the fact that the word “juju” is an African word for “magical.” Hey, we like some good tech trash talk as much as the next blog, but let’s not forget that Apple tends to trample the little people in its wake.
At any rate, all eyes are on Fusion Garage now: The Joojoo is promising a 16:9, 720p tablet that can play Hulu videos, which sounds good to us.
