For some time now, Android users have enjoyed the benefits of Google Now. As a personal digital assistant, the service is a handy alternative to Apple's Siri, providing all kinds of up-to-date information. If a purportedly leaked video is the real deal, iOS users may be able to check out Google Now in the near future.
The video was supposedly pulled from YouTube shorty after it appeared, but an Engadget tipster managed to snatch it before it disappeared. The video looks legit, and as noted by Engadget, the voice actress sounds just like she did in the original Google Now announcement video.
But is it real? Eh, maybe. There's also the distinct possibility the video was something Google made when Now was possibly coming to iOS, and it was later scrapped. Then again, it's totally possible, as Google is constantly looking for ways to get its own services on every imaginable mobile device.
Earlier today, it was discovered that Google Now compatibility appeared in the latest build of Chromium, meaning the service could also be on its way to Chrome for Windows, and Chrome OS. If Google Now hops on to iOS, who knows, maybe we'll even see a Mac OS X version.
Allegedly, Now will appear in a future Google Search iOS update, and appear with a quick up-swipe on the main page of the app. We'll reach out to Google and report back if anything pans out.
