Despite a veritable tidal wave of new media streaming boxes for the living room, many consumers still prefer to keep a slim, headless Mac or PC connected to their HDTV — but suffering with a keyboard in a darkened room doesn't sound like much fun.
Logitech is attempting to solve this dilemma with Wednesday's announcement of the Illuminated Living Room Keyboard K830, which, as the name implies, allows full navigation of a home theatre PC, even after the lights go down.
The K830 allows viewers to sit comfortably up to 33 feet away from their connected television and bundles a touchpad with a backlit keyboard whose keys automatically dim or brighten depending how much light is in the room where it's being used.
The rechargeable keyboard offers soft keys that Logitech has optimized for control of home entertainment systems in a streamlined, rechargeable package. The K830 also includes Logitech Options software, allowing users to take full control of the keyboard's functionality and customize both touchpad and keys to their liking.
Logitech Illuminated Living Room Keyboard K830 is now available for preorder from the company's website for $99.99 and will ship to U.S. and European customers later this month.
