Cellular-equipped iPads remain hard to come by on Apple's website, but all three supported U.S. carriers have announced limited availability at their retail stores on Friday, if you have to have one today.
Sprint and AT&T have confirmed limited retail stock is available for Apple's cellular-equipped iPad mini and fourth-generation iPad on Friday. Verizon Wireless is also selling the latest iPads, but they can only be ordered online at this time.
In a press release Friday morning, Sprint confirmed that both 4G LTE-capable iPads would be available at select retail locations, but warned that supplies would be limited. For many would-be iPad owners, this may be a less desirable option, given the slow rollout of the third-place carrier's LTE network across the country.
Thankfully, AT&T has also come to the rescue with a press release of its own. The carrier doesn't elaborate on stock availability, but simply notes that the iPad mini and fourth-generation iPad is now available for purchase at AT&T retail locations, so eager buyers may want to call ahead to confirm before leaving their homes.
Meanwhile, Apple.com continues to show all versions of the iPad mini are backordered two weeks; Wi-Fi only versions of the latest full-sized iPad are in stock in all colors and capacities, while the LTE models show an "available to ship" date of seven business days.
