If you're the type of person who takes advantage of the dual-booting powers of Boot Camp when using your Mac, today's OS X update is of importance. Previously relegated to only using Windows 7 or older, OS X 10.8.3 finally adds support for Windows 8.
Since the launch of Windows 8 last year, Boot Camp users were left out in the cold. Today, Apple has released Mac OS X 10.8.3, which updates Mountain lion to take advantage the latest operating system from Microsoft.

And perhaps even more important, new iMacs with a 3TB hard drive can finally Boot Camp. Many new Mac users were left frustrated after an issue made it impossible to dual-boot on the largest storage configuration of the new iMac.
The update also includes a number of other additions and fixes. Namely, the previously announced ability to scan iTunes gift cards with the iSight camera is now available. The function was worked into the iTunes Store during the launch of iTunes 11.
Granted, not everyone really needs to use Boot Camp (and maybe fewer are excited about Windows 8), but these are still vital improvements for some Mac users. Apple has also addressed a potential issue where 2011 iMacs suffered from an audio stutter. The update can be found in the Mac App Store.
